About Me:
Since April 2018 I am Junior-Professor at the Leipzig Institute for Meteorology of the University of Leipzig. My research focuses on synergistic remote sensing observations of clouds using Doppler cloud radar, polarization lidar, and microwave radiometer. A research question that I am am particularly interested in is the vertical distribution of liquid water in thick and multi-layer mixed-phase clouds which plays a big role in cloud microphysical growth processes and effects precipitation efficiency and the radiative impact of the clouds. By developing retrieval algorithms based on cloud radar Doppler spectra, synergistic radar-lidar observations, and multi-wavelength radar measurements, I hope to improve the detection of cloud liquid in the entire vertical column. I am looking forward to observing a full annual cycle of understudied clouds in the pristine Southern Hemisphere.
